[Sports Today Reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Actors Lee Jun-hyuk and Shin Hye-sun reunite after eight years. They meet as pursuer and pursued, bringing tension to “Lady Dua.”

On the 10th, the production presentation for the Netflix series “Lady Dua” was held at an undisclosed location in Seoul. Director Kim Jin-min, Shin Hye-sun, and Lee Jun-hyuk were in attendance.

“Lady Dua” tells the story of Sara Kim (Shin Hye-sun), a woman who wanted to become a luxury brand even if it meant being fake, and Mu-gyeong (Lee Jun-hyuk), the man who pursues her ambitions.

Director Kim Jin-min spoke about the work, saying, “There’s enjoyment in watching people chasing desires and those chasing the people chasing desires. I hope viewers will fully immerse themselves in this exploration of ambition.”

He said, “When I first read the script, I thought the structure was interesting. Seeing how unpredictably it unfolds, I thought it was a script that’s hard to find these days. I hoped two good actors would join, and these two did.” He expressed gratitude towards the leads Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk.

Director Kim said, “It must have been difficult for one character to do various things, but I think the actor’s potential needs to come out. Shin Hye-sun showed incredible focus on set. If you like this work after watching it, it’s because you like the actors. I think the work came out because I believed in these people.”

Shin Hye-sun played Sara Kim, a mysterious character with an unknown identity. She said, “It was a time when I wanted to do something genre-like. I was intrigued by how various identities come out of the character Sara Kim as events revolve around one woman, and I had to do it because I was curious about the ending.” She revealed her reason for appearing in the show.

She said, “I had a lot of concerns about whether I should act as a completely different person through acting. I thought I wouldn’t be able to change much in terms of acting or character. We made clear visual differences, and the director and filming staff expressed the identities through atmosphere and such things.” She said she also put effort into external changes.

In particular, Shin Hye-sun said, “The costume and makeup team gave ideas tailored to the characters based on faces of actress Shin Hye-sun that hadn’t been shown before. There were clear concepts for each character. I want to thank them for making me well according to those concepts.”

Lee Jun-hyuk played the role of detective Mu-gyeong, who traces Sara Kim’s trail with tenacious determination. Lee Jun-hyuk said, “I tend to like characters who desire something. I thought the character of Sara was interesting, and Mu-gyeong was a challenging choice because there were things I needed to go through and learn as an actor at some point.”

Lee Jun-hyuk, who said he approached the role with extreme immersion, honestly said, “I was very stressed. There were missions at every scene, and I think I went along with Mu-gyeong’s emotions. When I actually met Sara Kim, it really hurt. When we met, there was an emotion that mixed everything together. Every part gave such tension that now that the process of finding the answer is over, I feel really good.”

Lee Jun-hyuk, who reunited with Shin Hye-sun after 8 years since “Secret Forest,” expressed his feelings about the reunion, saying, “I had trust in Shin Hye-sun. She’s an excellent worker, and I felt very comfortable. Even when I wasn’t there, she filled everything, making me want to work with her again.”

Shin Hye-sun also said about Lee Jun-hyuk, “Both in the drama and in social life, I was really a rookie, a newbie. Back then, Lee Jun-hyuk was a very senior actor. I was just trying to keep up. He was a great senior who gave good advice, and when we worked together, I felt a sense of trust that we seemed to understand each other without words even though it had been a long time. He focused a lot while looking into my eyes. I really liked that he was someone I could rely on comfortably.”

Director Kim Jin-man also expressed his trust in Lee Jun-hyuk, saying, “I thought the detective’s perspective would be the viewer’s perspective. In our first meeting with Lee Jun-hyuk, I told him it would get much harder as we go on. I said it would be difficult to direct, and if we don’t do it best, the balance point of this drama could change, so let’s do well together. Lee Jun-hyuk asked me good, sharp questions. He asked questions that couldn’t be passed without an answer, which helped me reduce many directorial mistakes.”

Shin Hye-sun, who also played a similar character, Sora, in the movie “She Died,” said honestly, “It felt like a different texture of person. Sara Kim is such a master that Sora couldn’t even dare to look at her. Sara Kim doesn’t show what she’s thinking on the outside, and I had to give her elegance, so acting Sara Kim was more difficult.”

Finally, the actors honestly answered the question about what they think “luxury” and “desire” are. Shin Hye-sun said, “I hope the Sara Kim I acted, ‘Lady Dua,’ doesn’t feel awkward. My desire is for it to be a drama that you can enjoy watching.”

Lee Jun-hyuk sincerely said, “I think what makes something real is the belief and heart of many people. I think seeing something as attractive is also the heart of the times. So I think our work fits the times. I hope many people will believe it’s real. We made it with sincerity, and it seems like ‘luxury’ if you could get real emotion and some realization from it.”

“Lady Dua” will be released on the 13th.
