“The King and the Man” Maintains Box Office Reign The period drama “The King and the Man” continues to dominate the South Korean box office, solidifying its position at the top of the charts.
According to data from the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on May 9th, the film attracted 98,385 viewers, pushing its cumulative audience to an impressive 1,099,483.
Securing the second spot was “The Divine Band,” which drew 13,546 moviegoers, bringing its total audience to 1,129,442.
The romantic drama “What If” held strong in third place, demonstrating remarkable staying power. It added 12,058 viewers to its tally, reaching a cumulative audience of 2,496,475.
Rounding out the top five were “2024.12.03: The Day of the Manipulated Uprising, The Hidden Truth” in fourth place with 11,513 viewers, followed by “No Mercy: 90 Minutes” in fifth with 5,531 attendees.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for director Ryoo Seung-wan’s upcoming thriller “Humint.” Set to premiere tomorrow, the film has already topped pre-sale rankings with 168,834 tickets sold. “The King and the Man” and “Number One” trail behind in pre-sales.
