
Andabin, son of the late actor Ahn Sung-ki and an accomplished painter and installation artist, shared a heartfelt message about his father.
On the 10th, Andabin took to social media, writing, “Dad, this has become the only solo exhibition I couldn’t share with you.” He added, “I feel I’ve gained some insight into painting from the heart.”
He continued, “Your words from the past are finally resonating with me. Thank you, Dad. I’ll continue to work diligently on my art.”
Andabin also mentioned that it’s the final week of his solo exhibition in Los Angeles, expressing, “I’m deeply grateful to everyone who visited the exhibition and to those who’ve supported me from afar.”
In related news, Ahn Sung-ki passed away on January 5 at 9 AM at the age of 74. The veteran actor was rushed to Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Seoul on December 30 last year in cardiac arrest and had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Ahn was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and was declared cancer-free the following year. However, he suffered a relapse and had been battling the illness since. His health struggles became public knowledge after he appeared noticeably changed at an event in 2022.
The funeral for Ahn Sung-ki was held as a film industry ceremony, organized by the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation and the Korean Actors Association. Following the funeral services, a farewell ceremony took place at the Famiglia Chapel Hall in Myeongdong, Seoul, where Ahn made his final journey, surrounded by colleagues and junior filmmakers paying their last respects.
