Daniel Kim Views
Ahn Da-bin, the eldest son of late actor Ahn Sung-ki, has expressed his longing and commitment to his father through a personal art exhibition.
Ahn, an established artist, took to social media on the 10th to announce his exhibition, noting, “This is the first solo show I couldn’t share with Dad.” He reflected, “I think I’ve started to grasp how to paint from the heart,” adding, “Dad’s words from the past are finally resonating with me now.”
His measured words convey the weight of time he’s experienced since losing his father. Ahn made a heartfelt promise, “Thank you, Dad. I’ll continue to work diligently,” dedicating his commitment to his father in heaven.

The “words that are finally resonating” allude to the life lessons Ahn Sung-ki sought to impart to his son. During his lifetime, Ahn advised his then five-year-old son to “always be humble, honest, and capable of loving others.” These words, once difficult to comprehend, are now finding new meaning as Ahn Da-bin navigates his artistic career in the wake of his father’s passing.
Born in 1988, Ahn Da-bin studied art at Pratt Institute in the U.S. and has been working as a painter and installation artist since 2006. He’s forged his own path in the art world, distinguishing himself beyond the label of an actor’s son.
Ahn Sung-ki passed away on January 5 after battling blood cancer. While he left an indelible mark as an actor, to his son, he remains a father whose words and a single letter continue to resonate deeply.
Ahn Da-bin’s personal exhibition serves as a poignant tribute, bringing his father’s words back to life through his art.
