On February 10, Ahn took to social media to announce his upcoming solo exhibition, writing, “Dad, this is the first solo exhibition I couldn’t share news about with you.”
He continued, “I believe I’m starting to grasp, even if just a little, how to paint from the heart. Your words from the past are finally resonating with me. Thank you, Dad. I’ll keep working diligently and quietly.”
This exhibition marks Ahn’s first since his father’s passing, and his heartfelt message has struck a chord with many.

Ahn Sung-ki, widely regarded as a national treasure in Korean cinema, tragically collapsed at home during a meal on December 30 last year. While battling blood cancer, he choked on food, leading to cardiac arrest. Despite intensive care treatment, he never regained consciousness and passed away on January 5, just six days after being admitted to the hospital.
During the funeral, Ahn Da-bin shared a letter his father had written before his passing.
The letter read, “I hope you’ll grow to be humble and honest, with a generous heart that knows how to love others. Excel in your work, be punctual, and strive to be a peacemaker. Remember, a man must never lose his ambition or courage. Stay confident, keep challenging yourself, and your path will become clear.” It concluded with a touching sentiment: “My son Da-bin, always remember that in this world, nothing is more irreplaceable than a ‘good person.'” The message left a lasting impression on all who heard it.
