[RealFood = Reporter Yook Seong-yeon] Twosome Place — the popular dessert cafe — announced on the 27th that it’s opening the first South Korean outpost of U.S. ice cream brand Van Leeuwen in Seoul’s fashionable Gangnam district.
Earlier this year, Twosome Place signed a domestic master franchise agreement (MFA) with Van Leeuwen. The brand will officially launch in Korea this summer, debuting at the Gangnam Station location, with additional stores planned to open before the end of the year.
Van Leeuwen’s signature flavor, “Vanilla Bean,” is made by grinding whole Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans into the base. The lineup will also feature options like “Sicilian Pistachio,” made from pistachios grown in the volcanic soil of Mount Etna, and a refined “Earl Grey Tea.”
A Twosome Place spokesperson noted that Van Leeuwen began as an ice cream truck in 2008 and has garnered a celebrity following thanks to its strong product philosophy and chic branding.
