[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Comedian Kim Junho had to shelve plans to buy a tiny private island after his wife, Kim Jimin, gave him a decidedly frosty response.
On the May 3 episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy (Miwoosae), Kim Junho told friends Heo Kyunghwan, Choi Jin-hyuk and Yuk Joong-wan that he wanted to buy a small uninhabited island near Tongyeong, and the group went to take a look.
Kim Junho said the island could be had for 130 million KRW (approximately $97,500). The guys were tempted, but they worried the purchase might put strain on his still-new marriage to Kim Jimin. Heo fretted, If she sees us living on an island, won’t she wonder, ‘Is he happier with them than with me?’
Kim Junho brushed it off with confidence. We’re close, he insisted. None of that is true. Jimin likes me. I even sent my mother-in-law off on a cruise today, he boasted.

That’s when Choi Jin-hyuk pointedly asked, So did you get your wife’s permission to buy the island? Kim Junho shushed him and snapped, Are you crazy? I’ve done plenty of things and begged forgiveness later — she never says yes.
Yuk Joong-wan chimed in with a warning from experience. He recalled selling a motorcycle he’d had since his bachelor days because his wife told him to, then secretly buying it back — and nearly getting kicked out. She told him not to come home. If a motorcycle caused that much trouble, he joked, an island would be grounds for divorce.
Heo Kyunghwan added a practical angle: Once you have kids, there are education costs and a lot more expenses. What if you’re supposed to be saving and Jimin says, ‘What are you doing spending money like that?’ or ‘Do I have to be the only one having a baby?’
Clearly rattled, Kim Junho finally called Kim Jimin to ask if she approved the island purchase. In a low voice she replied, What are you talking about? and added, I’m really in pain right now. Hearing how unwell she sounded, Heo, Yuk and Choi fell completely silent.
