Yeungnam College of Science and Technology’s Park Seung-chul Hair Department proved the strength of its hands-on beauty training by taking home both the grand prize and a bronze medal at the 2nd K-Beauty-In Idea Contest.
Run by the K-Beauty-In Association, the contest searched for creative, practical ideas across the beauty industry. It invited submissions that could be applied to services, educational content, and promotional materials. The entry period ran from March 6 to April 8, and the awards ceremony was held on the 26th.
Second-year student Park Seong-min won the grand prize, while classmate Yoon Su-bin earned the bronze medal — giving the department two major wins. Judges praised the projects for their creativity, feasibility, and practical on-the-floor value.
College officials say the results reflect not only the students’ talent but also the school’s systematic, practice-focused training.
The curriculum links hands-on practice with classroom theory to build real-world skills in hair design, trend analysis, tailored client service, and brand planning.
The college also supports students through competitions, industry partnerships, and applied programs so they graduate with both practical experience and problem-solving abilities.
As K-beauty expands globally and brands put more emphasis on customer experience and digital content, this recognition stands out as a concrete example of education meeting industry needs.
Taking both the grand prize and a bronze at a national contest is a symbolic indicator of the department’s competitive strength in the field.
“This outcome reflects our students’ dedication combined with the university’s hands-on approach,” said Lee Subi, head of the department at Yeungnam College of Science and Technology. “We will continue to cultivate beauty professionals who blend creativity with practical skills.”
