By Mi-young Lee, JoyNews24 — South Korean singer PSY will appear in a CNN documentary series that examines K-pop’s global reach.
CNN International will begin airing the new documentary series K-Everything starting on the 9th (Korean time).

‘K-Everything’ probes the global influence and roots of Korean culture that are shaping contemporary cultural trends. Actor-producer Daniel Dae Kim hosts the four-part series, which explores widely beloved aspects of Korean culture, including K-pop, television dramas, food and beauty.
PSY sits down with Daniel Dae Kim to discuss K-pop’s trajectory. He offers his perspective on the genre’s rising popularity and the global superfan phenomenon that now helps drive the industry.

On the 6th, CNN released an opening clip for the series featuring PSY on its official social channels. In the clip, Daniel Dae Kim asks, “How long did you enjoy the success of ‘Gangnam Style’?” PSY responds candidly: “As a performer, it lasts forever. But as a songwriter, a dream and a nightmare coexist. I kept asking myself, ‘How can I create something better than this song?'”
PSY’s 2012 hit “Gangnam Style” became a global phenomenon and marked a milestone in Korean pop history. The song reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 31 weeks — a record for a Korean artist until BTS’s “Dynamite” spent 32 weeks on the Hot 100 in 2021. At the time, outlets such as The New York Times and CNN framed PSY as a rule-breaker: an unassuming performer with explosive energy who sparked an international craze.
‘K-Everything,’ which features PSY, will also stream on Coupang Play and HBO Max.
