[EPN NPNOW reporter Goh Nari] Tablo of Epik High candidly recounted his experiences during his time at YG Entertainment, drawing attention.
A video titled ‘Former Coworkers Reunion ft. Taeyang,’ released on the Epik High channel on the 14th, featured BigBang’s Taeyang joining the members for a frank conversation.
Taeyang said he had long assumed Tablo wasn’t much of a drinker. Tablo replied that while he was active at YG, he was often at drinking gatherings — a comment that prompted laughter.
Tablo recalled a work environment where critiques and revision requests were routine. During every recording session, he said, producers would tell him, \”Fix this part,\” \”The song lacks power,\” or \”You need to hit harder here.\”
At the gathering, Tukutz even impersonated then-chief producer Yang Hyun-suk, imitating his tone. He recalled Yang saying, \”Among our members there are people like ‘Beautiful Loser,’ and I hate losers,\” and added that not long after, BigBang released a song titled \”Loser,\” a story that lightened the mood.
Tablo said people once argued that if Epik High released a song called \”Loser,\” listeners might take it literally and see the group as losers, whereas if BigBang released the same song it would come off as cool. He said he had wanted to push back at the time but later conceded the point had merit.
Fans praised the video for the candid, playful chemistry among artists who once worked together at YG.
Tablo debuted with Epik High’s first album in 2003. The group signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment in 2012, and Tablo later served as head of YG-affiliated label HIGHGRND. Their contract with YG ended in 2018, prompting speculation about their next steps.
