[Sports Today Reporter Song Oh-jung] What is singer Lee Hyori’s yoga class like? Viewers were also given an unguarded look at her thoughts after class—not as an instructor, but as a public figure.
On the 24th, a video posted to the YouTube channel Channel Fifteen Night showed Lee visiting the Egg Is Coming production office to lead a yoga session.
Before class, Lee explained, “The style I teach is Hatha yoga. ‘Ha’ represents the sun and ‘tha’ the moon. Like yin and yang, it helps balance body and mind so they don’t tip too far in one direction. Over time it can shift emotions and temperament as well.” She added that her practice emphasizes holding poses longer to build flexibility.
Lee moved through the room, checking each student’s alignment. She praised producer Na Young-seok’s mobility, saying, “That’s excellent—your flexibility is impressive.” As the poses became more demanding, Na’s T‑shirt began to soak through, and Lee teased, “Your underarms are pretty wet—are you okay?” which drew laughter.
After class they sat down for tea and conversation. Writer Kim Dae-ju admitted, “When I first tried yoga I thought it wasn’t for me, but today was the most fun I’ve had.”
Lee responded, “If you only do exercises or eat things that suit you, you end up unbalanced. After practicing yoga, I find myself trying things that don’t feel like a natural fit. Then I think, ‘Huh, this is surprisingly okay.’ It expands your thinking and helps professionally, too. I used to only do and watch what I liked, but now I’m trying to stay open.”
Asked about her current work, Na asked, “Are you doing variety shows these days?” Lee said she recently appeared with her husband Lee Sang-soon on the program Mongle Counseling and that she’ll join Dating War with Seo Jang-hoon in May. When Na asked whether she would consider shows in the vein of Running Man, Lee answered, “If the timing and conditions are right, I actually enjoy that kind of program. I still watch Infinite Challenge, Running Man, and Family Outing.” She added that while she’s open to classic formats, she’s also interested in new types of shows that fit today’s landscape.

Lee then asked whether anyone had heard rumors about her, saying, “Has anyone heard anything about me?” On the notion that people should check in on her through her husband—plus the rumor that “Lee Hyori is scary”—she explained, “I really dislike pointless small talk. A lot of people don’t like calls that jump straight to the main point without a greeting. So those who are uncomfortable with that will call my husband and ask, ‘How’s Hyori doing lately?’”
When asked what it feels like to live as Lee Hyori in South Korea, she reflected, “It feels like time just flew by. For a while, I got a bit full of myself—people around me pushed me in that direction. When they told me ‘Don’t do that’ or ‘Sit down,’ I took that as the norm.”
She laughed and added, “It was fun and exhilarating. I felt fearless. But after those highs, there’s often a sense of loss. Living without that roller coaster is… calmer. Living a quieter life is much more—” she trailed off, prompting smiles.
Lee returned to Seoul after years in Jeju as her TV work increased. Asked how city life felt, she admitted, “It was hard at first. My friends, mentors and the animals I love were all in Jeju.” Her husband, who enjoys cultural life, restaurants and convenience, prefers the city. “Life in Seoul is easier in many ways, but I still miss Jeju. Opening the yoga studio has kept me so busy it’s been really helpful,” she said.
Writer Kim then asked why she opened the studio. Lee said, “Yoga has enriched my life. I met friends I can be completely open with, found teachers I admire and even discovered teas I love. I wanted to give something back to yoga. I hope people who share my struggles can find some comfort in the practice.” She added that the studio’s 5 a.m. classes forced her to adopt a routine—lights out by 10 or 11 p.m.—which has helped keep her body and mind healthy.
