BOYNEXTDOOR Launches Exciting New Reality Show: What to Expect from ‘Tomodachi Base’?

[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] BOYNEXTDOOR launched their first regular Japanese variety series with a successful premiere.

On the April 11 premiere of Nippon TV’s talk-variety show BOYNEXTDOOR Tomodachi Base (hereafter Tomodachi Base), members Seongho, Liu, Myeong Jae-hyun, Taesan, Ihan and Unhak were joined by guest Jun Shison.

The series follows the group as they befriend a range of artists at the fictional secret hideout Tomodachi Base. It’s the first time the group has headlined a regular variety show in Japan.

In the premiere, BOYNEXTDOOR staged a series of skits with Jun Shison and played the Korean children’s game \”Mugunghwa Kkoch-i Pieotsseumnida\” — roughly equivalent to \”Red Light, Green Light\” — for a lighthearted segment. The six members kept the energy high with quick, witty banter that made for entertaining back-and-forths. Jun Shison admitted, \”I’m usually the youngest, so I’m not the type to reach out to younger people first, but I found myself wanting to buy them a meal,\” a remark that showed his fondness for the members.

After the successful premiere, BOYNEXTDOOR said through their agency KOZ Entertainment, \”We’ll show different sides of ourselves each week. Through Tomodachi Base, we hope to make new friends and grow closer to our fans and guests.\”

Upcoming guests on Tomodachi Base include &TEAM, INI, FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE, and Kota Nomura, among others.
