[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] The cohabitation on \”Gugidong Friends\” has begun.
The series’ premiere, which aired on the 10th, opened with the awkward housemates’ first day living together.
Jang Keun-suk was the first to arrive at the Gugidong house. He was soon followed by Jang Do-yeon, who says she’s been living alone for 14 years.
A silence fell over the room, and Jang Keun-suk admitted he’s more shy than he looks. Jang Do-yeon teased him, asking if he wanted a drink to loosen up, which drew laughs. Jang waved off the offer, saying there was nothing in the fridge.
The third cast member to arrive was Lee Da-hee. While she was gathering luggage from the trunk, a suitcase started rolling down a slope, and she dashed after it in surprise.
Next came Choi Daniel, who introduced himself as someone who’s lived alone for 20 years. He joked that he’d come in expecting something like the sitcom \”Three Men, Three Women.\”
Once inside, Choi Daniel greeted the others and said he was hoping for a vibe similar to the dating show \”Heart Signal.\” \”I like dating shows,\” he said. \”I’ve watched every season of ‘Heart Signal.’\”
The fifth cast member was Kyung Soo-jin. Asked her age, she laughed that she’d lost track but is 39. She said she’s open to marriage and having children — though she admitted there isn’t a partner yet, an answer that carried a bittersweet note.
The final arrival was Ahn Jae-hyun, who bumped into Kyung Soo-jin outside the building and came in with her. Choi Daniel quipped, asking why they entered together, revealing his fanlike enthusiasm for romantic-comedy moments.
Choi Daniel reflected on his twenties as a time full of novelty and excitement, but said that once he hit his thirties he started to feel a certain emptiness.
Ahn Jae-hyun said he often seeks vicarious satisfaction — for example, by watching vlogs — as a way to cope.

The six roommates then drew lots to decide who would take each bedroom. Lee Da-hee complained about the shared bathroom, pointing out that to get to it you have to pass through Jang Do-yeon’s room.
Jang Do-yeon joked that her mother mistakenly thought the show was a matchmaking program. \”She kept asking if there was anyone I liked there,\” Jang said, laughing, \”and I told her this isn’t a place to come with that kind of mindset.\”
She then went grocery shopping with Choi Daniel. As a devoted viewer of the show, Choi showed considerate gestures, like turning on the heated seat in the car.
Asked whether she was thinking about marriage, Jang Do-yeon said she’s never swung between \”I must\” and \”I desperately want to\” — instead, she admitted feeling a twinge of urgency since all her friends are married. \”Should I? I worry about it, but I end up living the way I always have,\” she said.
Choi Daniel reflected that he used to feel emotionally relaxed through his thirties and assumed things would happen \”eventually.\” Now, at 42, he shared a more poignant take on that expectation.
The pair entered a warehouse-style supermarket — a place most single-person households rarely visit. Choi Daniel showed a gentle side, taking off his coat and offering it to Jang Do-yeon, asking if she was cold.

While the others shopped, four of the cast stayed home to cook. They were startled by the look of a live octopus that had been delivered — its tentacles spilling out caused a moment of chaos as everyone scrambled to contain the box.
Meanwhile, Lee Da-hee suggested putting a karaoke machine in the basement to make better use of the space. She ordered installation, and when the technician arrived and set up the coin karaoke, she shut the basement door and began belting out songs.
Jang Keun-suk showed off his skill by expertly preparing a massive octopus — the size he joked could feed 100 people — and set about making six dishes including octopus couscous, rice cooked in a pot, skewers, and blanched octopus.
Choi Daniel also drew attention with his precise knife work as he chopped ingredients with focus — until he accidentally cut his finger. Jang Do-yeon also ended up with a hand injury.
Thanks to Jang Keun-suk, the six roommates enjoyed an impressive spread centered on octopus. As they shared beers, the early awkwardness between them began to wash away.
