[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Super Junior’s Ryeowook has spoken about a fall that occurred during a recent concert.
On April 7, Ryeowook posted a lengthy message on his social media account, writing, “As soon as the accident happened, I blamed myself so much for the friends who were hurt.”
He continued, “I felt the fans were injured because of me. Did I get too close? In the moment they fell, couldn’t I have grabbed them? I was frozen with regret and shock.”
Ryeowook, who has been active for more than 20 years since his debut, said it was the first time he’d witnessed an accident so close to him, and it affected him deeply. He expressed profound relief that the injuries were not more severe.
He vowed, “Above all, since we’ll continue to meet our ELFs, Super Junior will be more careful about safety and pay closer attention.”
During the encore of Super Junior’s 20th anniversary tour, Super Show 10 SJ – CORE in SEOUL, on April 5, Ryeowook stepped toward the audience as part of a fan-service moment. As fans reached out, a temporary safety barrier collapsed and three fans fell.
SM Entertainment said the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they received necessary tests and treatment. Medical staff advised two weeks of rest and care for sprains and bruises. The agency pledged to fully support their treatment and to do everything possible until they make a full recovery.
Ryeowook reportedly left the stage at once to check on the injured fans, accompanied them to the hospital, and remained with them throughout the process.

Hello, this is Ryeowook.
First, I wanted to explain what happened to ELFs.
As soon as the accident happened, I blamed myself so much for the friends who were hurt. I felt the fans were injured because of me. Did I get too close? In the moment they fell, couldn’t I have grabbed them somehow? I was frozen with regret and shock.
I’m not someone whose mind moves quickly, so I felt foolish for freezing in the moment. I’m sorry if that looked bad. I’m very grateful to the many ELFs who know me well, understood, and helped explain what happened.
I also spoke at length with the injured friends at the hospital. Even while they were in pain, they worried about me and cried, saying they felt more sorry than I did — I won’t forget that.
Even after more than 20 years since my debut, this was the first time I’d seen an accident happen right in front of me, and it was really hard on me. I’m so, so thankful they weren’t badly hurt…
Thank you to the ELFs for worrying about and comforting me.
And above all, since we’ll continue to meet our ELFs, Super Junior will be more careful about safety and pay closer attention.
Let’s stay safe and see each other for a long time without anyone getting hurt.
