[Sports Today Reporter Song O-jeong] Visually impaired creator Hansol says she remains hurt by hateful comments accusing her of pretending to be blind, even after 7 years on YouTube.
On April 3, Hansol posted a video on her channel OneShot Hansol in which she read and responded to abusive comments.
The clips highlighted comments such as, \”She’s pretending not to see — [expletive], she can see,\” \”She’s totally faking being blind,\” and \”Isn’t she acting like she’s visually impaired to boost subscribers, likes and views and make money off the attention?\”
Perplexed, Hansol explained that the Korean term \”봉사\” originally referred to an old governmental post, but people have turned it into a taunt and stripped the word of its dignity.
She also pushed back against accusations that she fakes blindness for profit, saying there is no reason to pretend not to see just to make money and expressing her frustration.

When a commenter called it a \”national-scale scam\”—accusing her of acting blind despite being able to see—Hansol pretended to cry and quipped, \”How can people still write comments like this after I’ve been on YouTube for 7 years?\” conveying her hurt with a touch of humor.
She went on to call out misconceptions about the eyes of people with visual impairments and thanked viewers who defended her, saying she doesn’t want to argue with trolls about whether she can see but is grateful that fans step in and challenge the abusers in the comments.
Some trolls even replied to those defenders with comments like, \”You could deceive doctors too,\” which shocked Hansol. She reacted in disbelief, asking how unshakeable those people’s convictions must be.
Hansol is a visually impaired YouTuber with 1.7 million subscribers who drew attention for content that portrays the realities of living with visual impairment. Recently, she has produced in-the-dark talk shows and everyday videos featuring short-track skater Kwak Yoon-gi, creator Myeongyeo-Yeonggugin, actor Park Jung-min, and Yubin, formerly of Wonder Girls.
