[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Rapper Dok2 — who has been in the spotlight amid reports of a relationship with singer Lee Hi — is accused of failing to pay 45 million KRW (approximately $33,750) in court-ordered installment payments.

On April 3, Munhwa Ilbo reported that Okims law firm, which represented the overseas jeweler, issued a statement through attorneys Kim Yong-beom and Lee Sang-yeop alleging Dok2 defaulted on the debt.

According to the firm, Dok2 agreed to divide the balance into three installments under a court-enforced settlement but has only paid the first installment; the remaining payments remain outstanding.

The jeweler, identified only as A, says Dok2 purchased seven pieces of jewelry across three transactions between September and November 2018 totaling $206,000 (about 267 million KRW at the time). A filed suit against Dok2’s former label, Illionaire Records, in October 2019, claiming Dok2 had not paid the remaining $34,740.

In July 2022, the Seoul Southern District Court’s Civil Appeal Division 4 issued an enforced settlement ordering Dok2 to pay $34,740 plus late damages in three installments by January 6, 2023. He paid one installment, but the balance and accrued late fees remain unpaid.

According to A, Dok2 still owes $32,623.55 (about 49,340,000 KRW). A called it unreasonable that Dok2 has delayed payment citing financial difficulties, has maintained a long-term stay in the U.S., and is likely to be receiving substantial copyright royalties.

Dok2 recently co-founded the label 808HiRecordings with his partner, singer Lee Hi. The pair have posted photos on social media showing them on dates in the U.S. and celebrating anniversaries together, continuing a steady stream of \”lovestagram\” posts. They have reportedly been together for more than five years.

While their relationship is public, Dok2’s alleged three-year failure to resolve this debt has provoked public criticism. Dok2 has not issued a statement on the matter.

Previously, Dok2 appeared twice on the National Tax Service’s list of major and habitual tax delinquents in 2022 and 2023. He reportedly paid about 672 million KRW in overdue taxes last year (roughly $504,000).
