[Sports Today Reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Yoon Doo-joon has joined Brave Detectives 5, stepping in for Lee Yi-kyung.
On the morning of the 23rd, E Channel hosted an online press conference for Brave Detectives 5. Attending were Ahn Jung-hwan, profiler Kwon Il-yong, Kwak Sun-young and Yoon Doo-joon.
At the event, Kwon Il-yong said, \”I’m truly honored to be part of Season 5.\” Ahn Jung-hwan added, \”It’s not easy these days for a show to make it to a fifth season.\”
Kwon went on to say that working on the program has left him feeling both angry and upset — he’s been struck by how much crime there is and how many people have been wronged in South Korea. \”We need to keep moving forward for those people,\” he said, expressing hope that the series can help prevent crime and, even in a small way, offer support to victims.
Yoon Doo-joon said he was surprised when he received the offer and found himself asking, \”Why me?\” He explained, \”I don’t usually expect to appear on shows I watch because they feel out of reach. The invitation was a surprise, and because Ahn Jung-hwan is on the program — someone I admire — I gratefully accepted.\” He also praised the show’s expert, calling the professor \”a legend.\”
He joked, \”I like leather jackets. Maybe they cast me because leather jackets suit me.\”
Kwak Sun-young said she took the offer while in her car and immediately replied, \”I’ll do it.\” When Ahn Jung-hwan asked if she had other commitments, she laughed and said the show had long been one she enjoyed and that joining felt like fate. \”I said yes right away. I’m a big fan, so there was no reason to hesitate.\”
On why she was cast, Kwak suggested the producers might have seen her as spirited and brave.
Brave Detectives presents the real, hard-earned stories of detectives who work around the clock to protect public safety. Active-duty officers appear on the show to share case anecdotes and offer crime-prevention tips, blending entertainment, information and meaning.
The series premiered in April 2022 and returns for Season 5 with MCs Kwak Sun-young and Yoon Doo-joon joining Ahn Jung-hwan and profiler Kwon Il-yong. Brave Detectives 5 premieres on the 27th at 9:50 p.m.
