[Herald Economy = Senior Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon District, led by Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon, will host the 2026 Geumcheon Youth Festival (G-Youth Grow Festival) at the Geumcheon District Office Plaza at 1:30 p.m. on the 16th.
The festival is organized around a youth leadership coalition called Jachibalkwang, which translates roughly as “self-governing radiance.” On March 28, local youth announced the coalition’s launch, saying their self-governing groups would come together to “shine on their own” and pledged a variety of programs for area teens. Young people helped plan the event and will lead a time-travel–style program that explores the past, present and future under a Buruma-bul (Blue Marble) festival concept.
Eight youth-focused organizations that operate under the Geumcheon Youth Growth Support Council — including the Geumcheon Youth Culture House, Doksan Youth Culture House and the Geumcheon Municipal Youth Center — are collaborating to run the festival.
The event opens with a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on the 16th. Seven youth representatives will kick off the program with an opening performance called “Buruma-bul Dice Roll,” signaling the start of the festival’s time-travel theme.
At 2 p.m., the main stage in Geumcheon District Office Plaza will present performances under the subtitle “Show Us Youth of Those Days,” tracing pop styles from first-generation 1990s idols through today’s fourth-generation acts. Eighteen teams from Geumcheon schools and youth organizations will take the stage.
At the same time, 25 interactive booths will operate under the Era Buruma-bul concept, each themed around the past, present or future. Activities include MOVE Stationery, a memory-recording station; making nostalgic dalgona candy; contributing to a Geumcheon story-collection booth; and the “Today Me, Tomorrow Me” exhibit, among others.
The sunken plaza will feature a healing zone focused on youth mental health, with a Polaroid photo spot, a “deserted-island” rest area and other relaxation experiences.
