[EPN NPinow reporter Go Nari] Brian posted a video on his personal channel demonstrating a cleansing method that he says effectively reduces unpleasant body odor.
In the video, released on the 7th, Brian demonstrated his facial and shower routines and said, “This is how you should wash to avoid lingering odor.”
He reiterated that thoroughly cleansing behind the ears with facial cleansing foam is, in his words, “the key to sanitizing the body.”
Followers—long familiar with Brian’s reputation as a cleanliness enthusiast—reacted enthusiastically. Two weeks after the post, the video had surpassed 510,000 views as of the 20th.
Brian warned that the area behind the ears not only traps debris but can also produce 2-nonenal, a compound that contributes to a distinctive odor.
He explained that 2-nonenal, which tends to appear after people reach their 40s, forms when oxidized unsaturated fatty acids remain on the skin. Because it can lodge in pores, the area requires careful attention.
Brian advised against merely lathering foam on key areas such as the armpits, buttocks and feet; he recommended scrubbing them with a silicone washcloth or a similar tool.
He also suggested replacing shower puffs and body towels every month to limit bacterial growth.
Viewers left a range of reactions: “He’s not just obsessive about cleaning—he’s obsessive about bathing, too,” “You have to wash behind your ears,” and “He’s meticulous about self-care.”
Born in 1981, Brian debuted as a singer in 1999 as a member of Fly to the Sky and has consistently showcased his fastidious approach to cleanliness and hygiene on a variety of television programs.
Last year, MBC aired “Cleaning Fanatic Brian,” where his distinctive cleanliness philosophy drew positive responses.
