Actor Ki Tae-young spoke candidly on the program about the family-centered routine he has built and the modest spending habits that guide it.
The April 22 episode of MBC’s variety show Radio Star spotlights Ryu Jin, Ki Tae-young, Lucky and Song Ha-bin in a “Papa Go! All Daddy Project” special.
At the studio taping, Ki recalled meeting actress Eugene for the first time on a drama set, noting that their debut scene together included a kiss.
He said he felt the moment was disappointing because the kiss was so brief.
Ki described reorganizing his days around his family, making time with them a priority after 6 p.m. instead of scheduling personal engagements.
He explained that he adjusts his daily routine to focus on his wife and their two daughters, treating family time as his guiding principle.
On personal spending, Ki estimated he spends about 1.5 million KRW a year on himself (approximately $1,125).
“One 6,000 KRW T-shirt is enough,” he said, using the low-cost example to underline his frugal approach (6,000 KRW ≈ $4.50).
He also keeps fire-safety equipment and personal-defense items at home to protect his family, describing it as part of everyday preparedness.
Ki said he personally handles hands-on parenting tasks, from teaching his children how to brush their teeth to giving them basic financial lessons, reinforcing his family-first approach.
Ki Tae-young and Eugene purchased a five-story building — from one basement level to the fourth floor — in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, in 2015 for 2.35 billion KRW (approximately $1,762,500).
