U.S. Central Command said it carried out airstrikes on specific targets in southern Iran in self‑defense.

Reuters reported, citing U.S. Central Command, that on May 25 (local time) the strikes targeted an Iranian vessel attempting to lay naval mines and also struck missile launchers.
Central Command said it would continue to protect U.S. forces while the truce remains in effect.
It characterized the strikes as defensive measures intended to protect U.S. personnel and to avoid further escalation.
Earlier, Reuters said explosions were heard in several locations, including Bandar Abbas near the Strait of Hormuz.
Analysts are watching how Iran will respond. The United States and Iran are in final talks over a draft memorandum of understanding that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, call for a halt to hostile actions and launch 60 days of nuclear negotiations.
