[Herald Economy = Reporter Kim Eun-hee] On the 19th (local time), Iran’s military said it used the cease-fire as an opportunity to strengthen its combat capabilities and is ready to respond if the U.S. or Israel restarts hostilities.
According to Yonhap News, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia, the Iranian military spokesman, told a pro-government rally in Tehran’s Valiasr Square that the military “treated the cease-fire that had continued for the past six weeks like wartime” and “used it as an opportunity to bolster its combat strength.”
He warned, “If the enemy (the U.S.) again makes a foolish move and falls into the Zionists’ (Israel’s) trap to invade Iran again, we will open a new front with new tools and means.”
He added that the Iranian military has secured full control over the Strait of Hormuz and said the strategic waterway “will never return to its previous state.”
