[Herald Muse=Reporter Kim Minji] Wavve is broadening its offerings beyond dramas and variety shows by rolling out local news coverage.
The streaming service has moved past a news lineup centered on national broadcasters — including terrestrial networks, generalist cable channels, news-focused outlets and business channels — and added a slate of new channels focused on regional reporting and specialized coverage.
In Wavve’s News section, users can find major broadcasters’ bulletins — terrestrial networks (KBS·MBC·SBS); cable and news channels (TV Chosun, MBN, JTBC, YTN, Yonhap News TV); and business channels (Korea Economic TV, Maeil Business TV, Money Today Broadcasting, SBS Biz). The platform also offers live streams and VOD from regional private broadcasters like KNN (Busan·Gyeongnam) and JTV (Jeonju), LG HelloVision’s live news channel, and flagship report VODs from stations such as CJB (Cheongju) and TJB (Daejeon).
Wavve says it will further expand the lineup to include regional news channels such as G1 (Gangwon) and TBC (Daegu·North Gyeongsang). The additions are meant to give subscribers timely national and local news in one place.
A Wavve spokesperson said, “We aim to become an everyday platform that users turn to daily, expanding beyond dramas and variety shows to include news and sports.”
