South Korea has secured a second export contract to supply K9 self-propelled howitzers to Finland.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Finnish Ministry of Defence signed the contract in Helsinki on the 9th (local time).
The order covers 112 K9s and is valued at €546 million (approximately $584.22 million), roughly 940 billion KRW (approximately $705 million).
The sale follows roughly seven months of negotiations that began in August, conducted by a Team Korea delegation including KOTRA, Hanwha Aerospace and DAPA.
Finland initially acquired 96 K9 howitzers in 2017.
Defense analysts say the second contract underscores the K9’s proven mobility and firepower in harsh Nordic conditions such as extreme cold and heavy snowfall.
