[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] Singer Jeong Dong-won, who volunteered for the South Korean Marine Corps, personally announced he has completed basic training and posted an update on his condition.
On the 3rd, Jeong opened with “Oorah! Private Jeong Dong-won reporting,” and reassured fans: “To my fans and the partners waiting at home for their service members, I completed my training in good health.”
He thanked supporters: “Thank you for worrying about me and cheering me on. I’ll keep working hard.” He also added a personal note to fans: “I miss you — please wait a little longer. I’m always sorry, grateful, and I love you.”

He expressed gratitude to the instructors who led his training: “Thank you so much to all the platoon leaders of the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion for these six weeks!” He vowed, “I’ll give my all when I join my unit,” and urged his fellow recruits: “Class 1327, don’t get hurt — let’s stay strong until the day we’re discharged. Oorah.”
The released photos show Jeong with a firmer presence. Six weeks of training left him with sun-darkened skin and a crisp salute, shedding his earlier boyish image and emerging as a confident young Marine.
Jeong entered the Marine Corps Education and Training Command on Feb. 23 and completed roughly six weeks of basic training. After graduation, he will be assigned to a unit and serve about 18 months; his discharge is scheduled for August 2027. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
