[MyDaily = Reporter Seung-gil Lee] Actor Shin Hyun-joon’s April Fools’ post set social media alight.
On April 1, Shin posted to his social accounts and tagged his longtime friend, actor Jung Joon-ho. Alongside a teaser for the film Wanted, he quipped that Jung had invested 3 billion KRW (approximately 2.25 million USD) in the project, adding, “Joon-ho has young children, so this must succeed. Thanks, Joon-ho — I’ll repay you with a hit.”
The post immediately sparked a wave of reactions. Some praised the pair’s friendship, writing that true pals would do something like this. Others questioned whether the 3 billion won claim was an April Fools’ joke, and many said the duo’s well-known mix of rivalry and camaraderie made it hard to tell if it was genuine — comments that only increased public interest.
It was later confirmed to be an April Fools’ stunt. A source connected to the film said Shin posted the playful message to mark April 1 ahead of the release, calling it a lighthearted episode. Jung Joon-ho has supported Shin during production — even sending a coffee truck to set — and Shin reportedly used the occasion to express his gratitude with a wink. Insiders say Shin was surprised by how much attention the joke drew.
The film drawing renewed attention from the prank, Wanted, is a doppelgänger buddy comedy about an ordinary man named Hyun-joon who gets tangled in chaos when a criminal called Cheol-gu, who looks identical to him, forces him to team up with the police.
