[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Actress Ha Ji-won has effectively recast the TV villain in ‘Climax,’ willing to do whatever it takes to survive.

In the March 31 episode — episode 6 of ENA’s ‘Climax’ — Ha portrays Chu Sang-ah, a woman pushed to the brink. Her performance is relentless: she even uses her own life as a weapon to bury an advancing truth, pulling viewers fully into the story.

That episode finds Chu confronting former bodyguard Park Jae-sang (Lee Ga-seop), who is trying to expose entertainment producer Oh Gwang-jae (Seo Hyun-woo) for allegedly ordering a murder. When coaxing fails, Chu snaps: \”I’m tired of pretending in front of you,\” then sneers, \”Did you really think we’d end up together? You think we’d get married?\” When an enraged Park lunges and attempts to choke her, Chu contorts her body so bystanders’ cameras catch her face — a coldly calculated move that sends a chill through the scene.

When those tactics don’t generate sympathy and Chu finds herself facing crippling penalty suits and looming exposés, she escalates further, staging a staged, near-suicide spectacle to sway public opinion. She then engineers an emergency press conference with her husband, Bang Tae-seop (Ju Ji-hoon), mounting the stage with heavy dark-circle makeup and prosthetics to appear exhausted. At the podium she feigns tears and declares, \”I wanted to clear my name even if it had to be like this,\” successfully duping the public and flipping the narrative.

Later, when news breaks that Park has apparently died by suicide, Ha responds to reporters asking, \”Do you rule out foul play?\” by hyperventilating and collapsing, sustaining an unrelenting, high-wire performance that dominates the episode. Ha embodies Chu’s single-minded will to survive with uncanny skill, ratcheting the show’s tension and adrenaline to their peak.

Meanwhile, Good Data Corporation’s Fundex poll for the fourth week of March (released March 31) placed Ha second among the most-talked-about cast members, reinforcing talk of a second career peak. ‘Climax’ also ranked second in combined TV-OTT buzz, underscoring the series’ breakout popularity. ENA’s ‘Climax,’ propelled by Ha’s startlingly committed work, airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
