[SPOTV News=Reporter Choi Sin-ae] Kim Seon-ho reacted with a short “Wow” after his starring film, The Nobleman, made a surprise comeback.
On the 30th, the actor posted a screenshot of Netflix’s viewing rankings to his personal account, captioning it simply, “Wow.”
The screenshot shows The Nobleman at No. 3 on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies in South Korea, which prompted Kim’s delighted response.
The action film premiered in 2023 with a reported production budget of about 100 hundred million KRW (about 7.5 million USD), but it attracted only around 680,000 theatergoers and underperformed at the box office. After Netflix recently added the title to its catalog, word of mouth helped the film rebound on the charts.
Earlier, Kim was accused of using a one-person corporation registered under a family member’s name to divert income and avoid taxes.
His agency, Fantagio, said the situation resulted from a lack of understanding about running the corporation and denied any deliberate intent to evade taxes. Kim has reportedly returned the corporate card and vehicles, paid additional personal income tax, and is in the process of dissolving the company.
About a month later, Kim resumed activities, staying busy with the play Secret Passage: INTERVAL and an Asia fan-meeting tour. With The Nobleman climbing back on Netflix’s charts, public interest in his career has intensified.
