[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] New details have emerged about actor Jo Jin-woong’s life since he announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
On the 24th of last month, the YouTube channel The Fact uploaded a video titled \”Where is Jo Jin-woong now and what is he doing?\”.
In the video, veteran reporter Kang Il-hong says that since Jo announced his retirement, his whereabouts have largely been unknown. Kang reports that the actor has stopped all public activity and has blocked contact with the media. He added that Jo has reportedly cut off communications even with close acquaintances.
Kang also noted that sources inside and outside the film community expect that, having acknowledged his past, Jo likely hopes time will let the public quietly move on.
Jo announced his retirement in December after reports surfaced alleging criminal conduct from his adolescence. His agency, Saram Entertainment, said it had confirmed with the actor that he committed wrongdoing as a minor, but stressed that their findings were based on partially verified information. The agency added that the incidents occurred more than 30 years ago, making it difficult to reconstruct the full circumstances, and that any related legal proceedings have long since been resolved.
Jo issued a statement saying, \”I bow my head and apologize to everyone who trusted and supported me. I accept all criticism with humility. Effective immediately, I will cease all activities and bring my career as an actor to a close.\”
