The landmark drama Goblin — which captured viewers’ imaginations in South Korea and around the world — will bring its principal cast back together to mark its 10th anniversary.
When the tvN series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (commonly known as Goblin) debuted in 2016, it became the first cable drama to top a 20% nationwide rating, a historic milestone for Korean cable television. Even after the finale, the show has maintained strong viewership on international platforms and remains one of the signature titles that helped propel the Korean Wave.
Audiences and critics alike credited the series’ success to the actors’ subtle, layered performances, writer Kim Eun-sook’s distinctive, stylish dialogue, and director Lee Eung-bok’s cinematic eye — all underscored by an OST that dominated the music charts for months. The series went on to sweep major awards in 2017, including the Baeksang Arts Awards, the Cable TV Broadcasting Awards, and the Korea Drama Awards, cementing its status as more than a hit: a cultural touchstone of its era.

For its 10th anniversary, Goblin’s leading figures will reunite. Under the working title Goblin 10th Anniversary, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, Yoo In-na and other key contributors will take a short trip together. Reuniting after years apart, they’ll revisit iconic scenes and lines and reflect on the series’ particular significance. The special aims to reaffirm the show’s lasting power and why it remains a topic of conversation years later.
The anniversary special will also be presented as part of tvN’s 20th-anniversary programming, adding another layer of meaning. tvN said the network views Goblin as a symbolic series that continues to receive steady love beyond its original run. The special will call up viewers’ memories of moments shared with tvN and stir nostalgia for a career-defining show. Audiences can expect the original laughs and tears, the cast chemistry that still holds after a decade, and the emotional resonance the series left behind.
Designed to give longtime fans warm memories and a lasting emotional aftertaste — and to introduce new viewers to why the show became a cultural phenomenon — the working-titled Goblin 10th Anniversary is scheduled to air in the first half of this year.
