[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Final Investigation star Bae Seong-woo spoke about returning to the big screen after seven years.
On the 25th, a press screening for Final Investigation (director Park Cheol-hwan · produced by Cheongnyeon Film) was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul’s Yongsan district. Director Park Cheol-hwan, Bae Seong-woo, Jung Ga-ram, Jo Han-chul and Yoon Kyung-ho attended.
Final Investigation follows veteran detective Jae-hyeok (Bae Seong-woo), who has been reassigned to a remote post and given one last chance. To identify the true perpetrator in a murder case that involves two suspects, he heads to Seoul with rookie detective Jung-ho (Jung Ga-ram) for a final, high-stakes investigation.
The film originally wrapped production in 2019 under the title Business Trip Investigation and was slated for release. The COVID-19 pandemic, followed by a DUI controversy involving lead actor Bae Seong-woo, forced the release to be postponed indefinitely. Seven years later, the project returns to theaters with a new title.
Bae plays the demoted veteran detective Jae-hyeok.
At the screening, Bae said, \”I’m grateful the film is being released at all, and I appreciate everyone who came. I only hope audiences have an enjoyable experience.\”
This marks Bae Seong-woo’s first screen appearance in seven years. He added, \”I don’t know that I’ve ever felt like I’m back ‘in the field.’ I’m simply relieved and thankful that the film is being released.\”
He went on to say, \”My hope was to give viewers both entertainment and something meaningful. I hope people enjoy the film and take away something that resonates with them.\”
Bae also offered an apology: \”I am very sorry that my mistake led to this situation. It has made me realize I must live more carefully going forward.\” He reflected on the film’s production, noting that the team spent a long time revising the script, and after seeing the final edited cut he felt the cast delivered strong, impressive performances.
Final Investigation opens on April 2.
