[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Actor Jung Woo’s new film Jjanggu has locked a release date and released a teaser trailer.
On the 23rd, the film Jjanggu (directed by Jung Woo, produced by Fan Entertainment) confirmed an April 22 release and debuted its teaser.
Jjanggu follows audition wunderkind Jjanggu (played by Jung Woo), a young man who, despite repeated setbacks and rejections, refuses to give up on his dream of becoming an actor. Jung Woo portrays a Seoul-based aspiring actor who keeps pushing forward with relentless determination. For viewers who remember the film Baram, the return of the unforgettable name Jjanggu to the screen — and his fight to survive in the middle of life — is likely to resonate.
The teaser opens with Jjanggu turning at someone’s call. It then cuts to a series of audition scenes and the blunt reality of a 99th rejection, leaving him at a low point. But Jjanggu doesn’t break. He gets back on stage, keeps practicing and keeps trying. When he spots Min-hee (Jung Su-jeong) and is smitten at first sight, the trailer hints at the story that will unfold between them.
In the trailer’s final moments, director Jang Hang-joon, serving as an audition judge, asks, “Mr. Kim Jeong-guk, why do you act?” Jjanggu stares straight ahead, his expression suggesting he’s made a decision — a quiet, haunting beat that deepens curiosity about the choice he’ll make and the stage he’ll ultimately face.
Promising warm laughs alongside relatable moments, Jjanggu has kicked off its official countdown with the teaser release. It opens April 22.
