[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Rising actor Jeong Si-heon delivered a commanding villain turn as Go Jong-seok, a composer accused of plagiarism, on SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama ‘Shin I-rang Law Office.’
In the episodes that aired on the 20th and 21st, Jeong portrayed Go Jong-seok, a prime suspect and key witness in the wrongful death of Kim Su-ah (Oh Ye-ju), leaving a strong impression on viewers.
On screen, the strikingly handsome Go Jong-seok had been Kim Su-ah’s trusted mentor. But he shocked audiences when he snatched her phone at the death scene and brazenly passed off a song she’d written as his own.
Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok), who had been clashing with Jeong’s character while pursuing the truth, witnesses Go Jong-seok shamelessly perform Kim Su-ah’s song. He explodes in rage, calling him “trash” and saying he should “taste the fires of hell.” As the plot thickens, it is revealed that Jeong’s character—despite having seen fellow audition contestant Emma shove Kim Su-ah off the rooftop—succumbs to Emma’s entreaties and helps conceal the crime. The revelation raised the drama’s tension to its peak. Ultimately, when the trail catches up to Go Jong-seok, he attempts to flee but is seized by Yoon Bong-soo (Jeon Seok-ho) and confesses to his crimes, receiving his comeuppance.
Through this role, Jeong drew attention not only for his fresh look and solid physical presence but also for a finely tuned inner performance that captured a man torn between exposing the truth and aiding a murderer. Following his turn as Manager Go—the right-hand man to Cha Byung-jin (Yoon Si-yoon), a central figure in the used-car fraud cartel on ‘Taxi Driver 3’—Jeong again embodies a weighty villain and further cements his status as a rising star.
“To portray a layered character who chooses evil after a moment of anguish, I focused throughout filming on showing a wide range of emotions,” Jeong said. “I’m grateful to have been cast in another standout villain role after ‘Taxi Driver 3.’ I deeply thank Yoo Yeon-seok, senior actor Lee Som, and Oh Ye-ju for their collaboration. I look forward to greeting audiences with a new side of myself in my next project.”
Jeong Si-heon’s chilling transformation has become a hot topic. SBS’s ‘Shin I-rang Law Office’ airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m.
