Disney+ Series ‘Knock Off’ May Finally See the Light of Day Amid Kim Soo-hyun Controversy
Disney+ has addressed recent speculation about the potential airing of its long-delayed series ‘Knock Off,’ which has been in limbo due to controversy surrounding its star, Kim Soo-hyun.
On March 3, a Disney+ representative told Sports Today that there have been no changes to their previously established plans regarding the show. This statement comes in response to reports suggesting that the streaming giant was gearing up to schedule ‘Knock Off’ for release this year.
The buzz around the series’ potential comeback gained traction when Kim Soo-hyun’s attorney, Go Sang-rok, shared an article about the show’s possible scheduling on his social media. Go expressed his belief that the report was likely accurate, fueling speculation about Kim’s return to the spotlight.
Go elaborated on the situation, stating, “If thorough investigations reveal serious criminal acts by the perpetrators, Disney’s risk concerns could be officially resolved. This would eliminate any reason to further postpone the airing of ‘Knock Off.'”
‘Knock Off’ is a highly anticipated Disney+ series that tells the story of a man whose life is turned upside down by the 1997 Asian financial crisis. He then rises to become a kingpin in the global counterfeit goods market. The show garnered significant attention as Kim Soo-hyun’s follow-up project to his critically acclaimed 2024 drama ‘Queen of Tears.’
However, the series hit a major roadblock in March of last year when Kim became embroiled in a scandal involving allegations of an inappropriate relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. As a result, Disney+ indefinitely postponed the release of ‘Knock Off.’ The show was notably absent from the ‘Disney Plus Original Preview 2025,’ and the platform has since maintained that its release date remains undetermined.
