Genoco Secures $61 Million Contract for Advanced TWTA in Military Satellite Communication

Genoco (361390) has secured a contract to supply high-power traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) as part of a naval satellite communication system upgrade, the company announced on October 10.

The project, overseen by the Defense Rapid Acquisition Technology Research Institute, aims to enhance existing naval capabilities. STX Engine is serving as the primary contractor. The initiative will replace aging core components of military satellite communication equipment currently installed on naval vessels with cutting-edge technology. The contract is valued at 61 billion KRW (approximately 45.75 million USD).

Genoco will replace the existing equipment with new TWTAs, taking charge of supplying key components for the naval satellite communication system. The company is committed to ensuring reliable project execution.

This contract win reaffirms Genoco’s technological expertise and reliability in the defense sector. The company anticipates potential follow-up orders in the space and satellite fields, particularly through its partnership with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). Genoco is expected to play a crucial role alongside KAI in South Korea’s largest ongoing satellite project and the “K-LEO” (Low Earth Orbit Satellite) initiative, often dubbed the Korean version of Starlink.

A Genoco spokesperson stated, “This contract marks the beginning of replacing outdated military satellite communication equipment and once again demonstrates our technological capabilities and project execution skills.” They added, “Given our visible achievements in collaboration with KAI in the space and low Earth orbit satellite sectors, we expect Genoco to enter a new growth phase as the space era unfolds in earnest.”
