In a recent development, the family of the late Seo Hee-won (Shu Shi-yuan), wife of Gu Jun-yeop, has come forward to debunk rumors circulating about her inheritance.
On the 10th, several Taiwanese media outlets, including TVBS, reported claims that Seo Hee-won’s mother had allegedly hired a lawyer to prevent Gu Jun-yeop from inheriting her estate.
Responding to these allegations, Seo Hee-won’s brother, actor Seo Hee-jae (Shu Shi-jie), lashed out at the rumor-mongers, calling them “malicious and vile-minded individuals.” He went on to say, “My brother-in-law gave my sister pure love and allowed her to experience true happiness. Our family will always be grateful to him.”
Seo Hee-jae further emphasized, “Gu Jun-yeop is part of our family,” and pleaded with the public to cease spreading these unfounded rumors.
Earlier, Gu Jun-yeop had announced his intention to relinquish his legal inheritance rights to Seo Hee-won’s mother, stating, “The entire inheritance is a precious fruit of Hee-won’s hard work for her family.”

Gu Jun-yeop and Seo Hee-won’s love story captivated many hearts. The couple initially dated in 1998, then reunited after a 20-year separation and tied the knot in 2022. Their fairy-tale romance, however, came to a tragic end when Seo Hee-won unexpectedly passed away from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan last February, leaving fans and loved ones devastated. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
