The family of late Taiwanese actress Seo Hee-won has refuted rumors of a conflict with singer Gu Jun-yeop.
On the 10th, Taiwanese media outlets, including TVBS, reported that Seo Hee-won’s mother had recently hired a lawyer to prevent Gu Jun-yeop from inheriting.
In response, the late actress’s brother, actor Seo Hee-je, stated, “Those spreading such rumors have malicious intentions. My brother-in-law gave my sister pure love and true happiness. We will be eternally grateful to him.”
He added, “My brother-in-law is part of our family. We will protect him and never cause him harm. Please refrain from spreading these baseless rumors.”
Seo Hee-won’s mother dismissed the conflict rumors, saying, “I despise lawsuits. They’re a waste of money and resources.” She continued, “I now call Gu Jun-yeop my son. He deeply loved my daughter, respects me, and I love him too.”
Previously, Gu Jun-yeop had clarified his stance on Seo Hee-won’s estate. He declared, “The entire inheritance is the precious result of Hee-won’s hard work for her family,” indicating his intention to transfer his legal inheritance rights to Seo Hee-won’s mother.
Seo Hee-won’s estate is estimated to be worth around 10 billion New Taiwan dollars (approximately 46 billion KRW or 34.5 million USD).
Seo Hee-won, who remarried Gu Jun-yeop in 2022, passed away on January 2 while vacationing in Japan with her family. The cause of death was determined to be pneumonia resulting from influenza.
