[TV Report] Actress Shin Se-kyung expressed her delight over Park Jung-min’s surging popularity ahead of the “Humint” premiere.
On February 9, Shin Se-kyung sat down with reporters at a café in Seoul’s Jongno district to discuss her upcoming film “Humint.”
“Humint” is a high-stakes thriller set in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths are submerged in the icy waters as characters with conflicting agendas collide. Shin portrays Chae Sun-hwa, a North Korean restaurant employee, in a riveting performance. This marks her return to commercial cinema after a 12-year hiatus since “Tazza: The High Rollers.”
Shin shared her excitement about her comeback, stating, “I was thrilled to return with a project helmed by director Ryu Seung-wan. The script was captivating, and my character was incredibly appealing. With such an stellar cast, there was no reason to hesitate.”
“Humint” presented Shin with unprecedented challenges. “This was my first foray into action and espionage genres, making it an entirely new experience. Filming abroad for an extended period was also a fresh challenge,” she revealed, hinting at her character’s multifaceted nature.
To prepare for her role, which required mastering the Pyongyang dialect, action sequences, and singing, Shin underwent intensive training. “Director Ryu was my primary guide throughout the process. I constantly sought his input and worked tirelessly with dialect and vocal coaches. My goal was to align perfectly with the director’s vision, sparing no effort,” she emphasized, showcasing her dedication.

In the film, Shin shares intense romantic scenes with Park Jung-min, who plays Park Geon. She disclosed,
Shin also revealed an intriguing behind-the-scenes detail: “There’s a moment where Sun-hwa touches Geon’s hair. The director explained that this was a callback to their youthful romance, something Geon particularly enjoyed.”
“Humint” is set to hit theaters on February 11.
