[TV Report] Choi Jong-hwan’s character in “Intimate Ripley” falls for the deception orchestrated by Lee Il-hwa and Lee Si-ah’s mother-daughter duo.
The latest episode of KBS 2TV’s “Intimate Ripley,” which aired on the 10th, portrayed Tae-seok (played by Choi Jong-hwan) developing paternal feelings for Jung-won (Lee Si-ah) as he falls for her act.
In this episode, after losing his Swiss bank account to Semi (Choi Da-eum) and banishing Se-hoon (Han Gi-woong), Tae-seok vented his frustration to Hye-ra (Lee Il-hwa). “That money was dedicated to serving South Korea. It was meant for the nation I built. And that worm, Jin Se-hoon, manipulated my precious daughter Semi into changing the password!” he fumed.
Hye-ra retorted, “Then you should have coaxed her into revealing the password.” Tae-seok, suspicious, asked, “Could it be you, Hye-ra?” She fired back, “Do you think I’d mess with your Swiss account? I’ve entrusted you with everything, including our daughter Jung-won’s future. Why would I do that? Your suspicion is incurable.” Tae-seok apologized, “I’m sorry. If I can’t trust you, who can I trust?”
Meanwhile, Semi felt guilty about Se-hoon’s expulsion from the Geunhyang family. Hye-ra reassured her, “Right now, this is helping Se-hoon. Mom has your father’s Swiss account.” She revealed, “Jung-won, I, and Chairman Ju Ha-neul have joined forces. Your father, Jin Tae-seok, would discard even his own flesh and blood if they became an obstacle. As part of the Geunhyang family, you need to understand and endure this.”
When questioned about not protecting Se-hoon, Hye-ra explained, “If Se-hoon gets hold of the Swiss account, he could seize control of Geunhyang and harm the family. He might even surpass your father in cruelty. We must stop him before he goes too far.” She also disclosed that Tae-seok’s intention to make Jung-won his successor was purely utilitarian, adding, “I hope Jung-won grows to become the true heir of Geunhyang Group.”
In a parallel plot, Young-chae (Lee Hyo-na) was revealed to be pregnant with Se-hoon’s child, while Se-hoon prepared poison to eliminate Tae-seok. Hye-ra warned Jung-won and Ha-neul, “We don’t know what Se-hoon might do, so be prepared.”
The tension escalated when Tae-seok, sensing something amiss, challenged Jung-won: “You drink it. I want to see if you truly consider me your father and how far you’ll go for Geunhyang. If you drink it without issue, I’ll have some too.” Unaware of the danger, Jung-won drained the glass and collapsed, clutching her chest. Both Se-hoon and Hye-ra were thrown into panic.
The twist came when it was revealed that Jung-won had already switched the contents of the glass. She had ingested harmless alcohol while pretending to be poisoned, fooling both Se-hoon and Tae-seok. Tae-seok warned Se-hoon, “If you poisoned it, you’d better not count on surviving.”
As Tae-seok began to believe Jung-won was his sole heir, with Semi’s involvement, he found himself conflicted: “Is this what blood ties mean? I tried to eliminate you, Jung-won, knowing you’re my daughter. What’s happening? Why does my heart ache?” This internal struggle heightened viewers’ anticipation for the conclusion of “Intimate Ripley.”
