With its turquoise South Pacific waters and year-round warmth, Saipan is fast becoming a favorite run-trip destination. Lacing up to explore a place—aka the “run-trip”—is one of the most vivid ways to experience it.

From coastal vistas to shaded forest paths and tidy park tracks, Saipan serves up running routes for everyone—beginners, weekend joggers and marathon prep alike. Want to keep your routine while you travel? Bookmark these three must-run spots.

1.

Oleai Sports Complex

Oleai is one of Saipan’s most well-organized sports hubs. Locals use it for soccer, track, and outdoor workouts — and even South Korea’s national baseball team has held training camps here.

The facility centers on a roomy field and a proper track, so you’ll find a steady, predictable surface—perfect for interval sets or tempo work.

The biggest draw here is the running track, which gives you a consistent surface to lock into your pace—ideal for intervals or tempo sessions.

The scenery only sweetens the deal: palms and lush tropical plants frame the field, giving the place a laid-back South Pacific vibe. Early mornings often reveal locals walking or jogging, so you get a taste of everyday island life rather than a tourist parade.

There’s plenty of open space for stretching and warming up, too—great for loosening up before a longer run and then settling into your pace on the track. If you want the most dependable running environment in Saipan, Oleai is a solid bet.

American Memorial Park

American Memorial Park sits near Garapan in central Saipan. While it honors the memory of the Pacific War, it’s also a beloved green space where locals and visitors unwind. Wide lawns, forested trails and a seaside promenade make it a top pick for runners.

The park offers multiple well-maintained paths. Most are flat, so beginners can run easily, and you can link routes to control distance—from a short 3–5 km (1.9–3.1 miles) jog to a longer training session.

The views you get mid-run are a highlight. One minute you’re under tree-shaded paths; the next you’re looking out at the ocean. Because the park hugs the west coast, sunset runs here are legendary—imagine running as the sky and sea glow amber and rose.

Hotels, restaurants and cafes cluster nearby, so you can grab coffee after an early run or stroll the beach to cool down—making this route an easy, pretty addition to any travel day.

If you’re chasing the most scenic run in Saipan, American Memorial Park is your answer.

Banaderu, up on Saipan’s north side, is a quieter, lesser-known running gem. It’s closer to raw nature than the busy beaches and parks, so it’s ideal if you want an off-the-beaten-track run.

The routes here are all about nature. Dense tropical foliage lines the roads, so running often feels like moving through a forest. Without the tourist crowds, it’s perfect for peaceful, reflective runs—just stay aware of the occasional car.

Hills give you a chance to work on strength, while the downhills let you play with pace and rhythm—it’s a fun, varied workout.

Everywhere you look, Saipan’s natural beauty opens up—glimpses of the sea through breaks in the trees, sunbeams pouring through the canopy. You’ll find yourself stopping for photos more than once.

Run here to discover a different side of the island—the quieter, “local Saipan” that contrasts with the usual tourist scenes.
