Namwon City announced on the 11th that the three actors registered as Namwon Nuri citizens on the previous day’s episode of tvN’s variety show Youth Over Flowers: Limited Edition.

In the episode that aired on the 10th, the trio traveled from Daegu to Namwon. Before visiting Gwanghallu Pavilion, they discovered the Nuri citizen program and completed the sign-up on Namwon City’s website.

Free perks were the deciding factor. While riding in the car, each used their smartphone to register as Namwon Nuri citizens. After being whisked away from Seoul and given a tight travel budget of ₩100,000 per day (about US$75), the promise of freebies and discounts was welcome news.

Right after registering, they checked their newly issued Namwon Nuri citizen cards and were pleasantly surprised by Namwon City’s generous tourist incentives. “Not only is admission free, but are there really this many discounts on restaurants and lodging?” they asked. Thanks to the cards, they gained free entry to Gwanghallu Pavilion.

The Nuri citizen program allows nonresident registrants to be counted as part of Namwon’s living population and to receive discounts at participating private businesses—such as restaurants and accommodations—as well as at public facilities.

Introduced in 2023 to stimulate the local economy by attracting a living population, the program is now approaching 200,000 registrations.
