The Seven Bridge Tour — the eye-catching ride that lets cyclists pedal over Busan’s sea bridges like Gwangan Bridge and Busan Harbor Bridge — is back this year, and it’s bigger than before.
Riding last year’s momentum, organizers are planning to turn it into a global sports festival by inviting cyclists from abroad.
Reporter Go Hwi-hun has the story.

When the Seven Bridge Tour debuted last year, it sent a thrill through cycling clubs across Korea.
For one day, riders replaced cars on the sea bridges, creating a breathtaking scene as they rode side by side over the water.
The event sold out in one minute and quickly became a sports-tourism showcase that put Busan on the global map.
Capitalizing on that success, Busan City has joined forces with the Korea Association of Travel Agents.
They signed a partnership to help ensure this year’s event is a hit.
The deal focuses on building “global sports tourism.”
Officials plan to package the unique route — which links four sea bridges, two underpasses and one tunnel — as a tourism product to actively draw international participants.
「Kim Kyung-deok / Busan Deputy Mayor」 We’ve planned extensively to make this event successful, and I’m very pleased that this agreement will help attract more visitors to Busan and to Korea.
The tour on Sept. 20 will be non-competitive, offering a full 77 km course and a shorter beginner route.
The aim is to savor Busan’s dramatic coastal views, not to chase records.
「Lee Jin-seok / Chairman, Korea Association of Travel Agents」 As far as I know, this is the first time a cycling tour has been packaged for overseas markets. I think it’s the first industry effort in Korea to truly link sports and tourism.
Whether this year will match last year’s sellout frenzy is already on the minds of cycling fans, who are eyeing Busan’s coastline with excitement.
