[Herald Economy (Daegu)=Reporter Kim Byung-jin] On May 5, Gunwi County in Daegu announced the launch of the 2026 “Rediscovering Gunwi” photo contest.
The submission period runs through Oct. 30, and the contest is open to all South Korean citizens.
Entries must be unpublished photos taken within the past two years that showcase local resources in Gunwi County.
Submissions are accepted in two categories: General and Drone. The General category welcomes images shot with any device — from DSLRs to smartphones — while the Drone category is reserved for aerial images captured by drones.
A total of 28 works will be recognized. In each category, judges will award: one grand prize (1,200,000 KRW (approximately $900)), one top prize (800,000 KRW (approximately $600)), two excellence prizes (500,000 KRW (approximately $375) each), and ten honorable mentions (100,000 KRW (approximately $75) each). Winners will receive certificates and cash prizes.
A Gunwi County official said, “We hope this contest will spotlight Gunwi’s varied local resources through fresh, creative perspectives and inspire more promotional content. We encourage everyone to take part and share their vision.”
