Gokseong County, in South Jeolla Province, is rolling out a tourism program for May—Korea’s Family Month—that blends live concerts with hands-on activities.
The county will stage the “Melody of Spring” concert at Donghwa Garden on May 2–3. From May 3–5, it will host a Children’s Day special, Train Village Great Adventure: Hi Fun Balloon Festival, around the Seomjin River Train Village.
The Donghwa Garden concert runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and pairs performances with interactive experiences set against a backdrop of wheat fields. An electronic string duo, singer Kim Kyung-rok, and a Korean traditional-music fusion band are on the bill. Activity booths and a beverage-tasting area will also be available.
At the Train Village event, visitors can enjoy children’s musicals, concerts, and magic shows alongside participatory attractions like bubble shows and balloon art. The lawn square will host bounce houses and other hands-on programs.
On Children’s Day, elementary-school-aged children and younger receive free admission. Gokseong County says the initiative aims to attract more family visitors.
