Imsil County is hosting a pet-centered cultural celebration in early May around the Osu Uigyeon Tourist Area. The event mixes a regional festival rooted in traditional folklore with hands-on programming and an international competition.
Running three days, from May 1–3, the festival will be held alongside the existing Uigyeon Cultural Festival. The county redesigned the event layout and upgraded on-site facilities to boost visitor comfort and add more interactive experiences.
This year emphasizes participatory events. The schedule blends workshops, educational sessions, and spectator-friendly activities designed to deepen appreciation for pet culture.
A highlight is an agility competition hosted by an international canine organization. Teams of dogs and owners race through obstacle courses—an exciting, crowd-pleasing spectacle that organizers hope will elevate the festival’s professional profile.
The lineup also includes new demo programs led by local trainers, who will showcase training techniques and behavior-correction methods.
Food stalls will spotlight regional specialties, with menus built around Imsil hanwoo beef and Imsil cheese, alongside traditional dishes and convenient grab-and-go options. Several food trucks and snack booths will also be on site to widen culinary choices.
\”Through this event, we aim to expand the festival into the pet-culture sphere and attract more visitors,\” a county official said.
