[The Public = Reporter Sujin Yoo] Rep. Jeong Yeon-wook (People Power Party), representing Suyeong District in Busan, toured Namcheon Marina on the 8th and vowed to revive it into a vibrant spot that locals and visitors alike will want to visit.
In 2024, the city of Busan tapped the Busan Tourism Organization to lead the marina’s revival and approved an in-kind asset contribution last year. The city plans to complete the administrative procedures for that contribution in the first half of this year.
The Busan Tourism Organization plans emergency repairs to aging mooring facilities and buildings to restore the marina’s marine leisure and tourism functions. It will create unique venues—pop-ups, live performances, and marine-themed exhibits—and offer experience-driven tourism tied to a diving pool and commercial yachts. Parking will be expanded to more than 90 spaces.
“This won’t be just a yacht mooring,” Rep. Jeong said. “We want a vibrant waterfront in front of Gwangalli where anyone would love to come—think great dining, diving, nighttime sea performances, and water activities that are accessible to people with disabilities.”
After the necessary administrative steps and emergency repairs are completed, Namcheon Marina is expected to reopen by the end of the year.
