[Herald Economy (Yeosu)=Reporter Park Dae-seong] The Yeosu Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, led by Director Jeong Tae-seong, announced it will commission detailed design work for a facility improvement project to transform the Odongdo and Geomundo lighthouses — popular viewpoints — into tourism-focused, interactive maritime cultural spaces.
On Odongdo, officials plan to install atmospheric lighting to attract evening visitors and expand shaded areas in the plaza. They’ll also enhance resting spots so people can comfortably linger after dark.
At Geomundo, the plan is to introduce experiential lodging set within the natural landscape, reimagining the site as a distinctive destination where visitors can enjoy a special day — and potentially an overnight stay — immersed in nature.
An official at the Yeosu office said, “The project aims to renovate aging lighthouse maritime cultural spaces and expand their functions so tourists can stay and participate in hands-on experiences.”
