Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province hosted a lively “Yangsan 12 Sights” press tour on March 25, spotlighting the city’s top tourism hubs ahead of Visit Yangsan 2026. Mayor Na Dong-yeon joined reporters on the route, walking them through the city’s vision for each site.
Mayor Na led on-site briefings at every stop, outlining tailored development strategies designed to make each destination shine. The tour laid out concrete blueprints for three anchor sites: Beopgi Reservoir, Yangsan Tower and Hwangsan Park.
At Beopgi Reservoir, the first stop, officials celebrated its rare ecological assets — a 100-year-old Himalayan cedar stand and a 140-year-old pine among them. To ease overlapping visitor paths, Yangsan said it will actively negotiate with Busan and other agencies to open the forest trail beyond the dam crest in stages, giving visitors more breathing room and a better nature experience.
Next up was the 160-meter landmark Yangsan Tower. Far from just an observation deck, the tower is being reimagined as a cutting-edge media-art venue. The city plans dynamic light and video installations that tell Yangsan’s past, present and future — a show-stopping draw aimed at enticing out-of-town visitors.
Hwangsan Park, a key riverside spot along the Nakdong River corridor, is set for upgrades focused on access and relaxed regulations for riverfront use. Plans include straightening entry roads, planting year-round flower beds and expanding cultural and sports programming to turn the park into a restorative, multi-sensory destination throughout the year.
The tour wrapped with the opening of the Mulgum Station Welcome Center near Mulgum Station — whose accessibility has improved with new KTX stops. Attendees toured the center and expressed excitement about the high-quality, one-stop visitor services it will offer to tourists coming to Yangsan.
“The Yangsan 12 Sights are a core driver of our city’s push to become a global tourist destination,” Mayor Na said. “We will focus administrative resources on the newly refreshed 12 sights so Yangsan can truly emerge as the leading tourism city of the Yeongnam region.”
