[Herald Economy — Reporter Ham Young-hoon] The Gangwon Tourism Foundation announced on the 22nd that it will run Gangwon humanities-themed tours on April 4 (Sat), April 5 (Sun), and April 11–12 (Sat–Sun).
The foundation says the tours center on Yeongwol and the story of Danjong—destinations that have seen a surge of visitors since the recent hit film “The Man Who Lives with the King.” Each session is limited to 100 people. To suit different travel styles, the program offers a same-day Yeongwol itinerary and a one-night, two-day option that includes Jeongseon.

The same-day route visits Jangneung, Cheongnyeongpo, Seondol, and Seobu Market. The one-night, two-day option adds stops at Gwanpungheon, the Arirang Museum, and Arari Village.
The foundation will also stage an emotionally driven, original madanggeuk performance on site, blending pansori narration with live acting. Designed to make Danjong’s story—now familiar to many from the film—come alive at these historic locations, the production features singer Seo Jin-sil, a Top-3 finalist from JTBC’s Pungnyu Daejang, as the pansori vocalist to increase immersion and polish.
