Dangjin City has been chosen for Chungcheongnam-do’s “2026 Regional Rural Tourism Revitalization Support” program.
On the 21st, city officials said the program will support local rural-tourism operators in creating stay-focused experiences that pair hands-on activities, sightseeing, dining and lodging around distinctive local attractions. The aim is to increase use of rural tourism assets and strengthen their connection to the local economy.
The city will invest a total of ₩240,000,000 (about $180,000) over the next two years, including ₩120,000,000 (about $90,000) in national funding. Working with the Dangjin Rural Experience and Recreation Villages Association, the city plans to launch the Live in Dangjin: Rural Mission Tour program.
The initiative will offer a variety of hands-on programs linked to local rural experience and recreation villages, while promoting tourism centered on regional specialty products.
Dangjin has already expanded its reach by turning five independently run rural-experience village programs into a cooperative system after the association formed in March 2024.
Last year, the city kept momentum by collaborating at events like the Haenaru sweet potato promotion and sales event, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ Rural-Urban Exchange Day, and Chungnam Province’s Hometown Visit festival.
With this grant, visitors to Dangjin will be able to fully immerse themselves in rural attractions while enjoying on-site lodging and locally sourced meals.
“We hope this selection helps spotlight Dangjin-style rural tourism,” said Lee Nam-gil, head of the Agricultural and Food Distribution Division. “We will support the rural experience and recreation villages so they can run mission tours that connect with local attractions on a stable basis.”
